Women’s golf
Coastal Carolina’s Lena Schaeffner shot a 2-under 70 to sit in second place at the Seminole Match Up.
Schaeffner was one stroke behind Texas A&M’s Maddie Szeryk.
As a team, the Chanticleers were tied for second after a 9-over 297, four strokes behind leader Florida State.
Coastal’s Barbora Bakova (73) was tied for eighth, Malene Krolboll Hansen (77) and Bailey Cocca (77) were tied for 35th and Marie Lunackova (81) was tied for 60th.
Indoor track & field
Several Coastal Carolina athletes earned top-10 finishes at the Samford Invitational on Friday.
Women: Aynslee van Graan (mile, third, 4:51.95); Kyla van Graan (3,000 meters, third, 9:39.37); Amirah Al-Bayyinah (triple jump, third, 41-10); Karissa Lunn (60 meters, eighth, 7.75); and Imani Boatwright (800 meters, ninth, 2:15.07).
Men: Kahlim Denmark (60 meters, third, 6.80; 200 meters, sixth, 21.93); Therius Styles (60 meters, sixth, 6.94); Deandre Baker (long jump, ninth, 22-3 3/4); Derrick Kinloch (triple jump, sixth, 47-9); and Brandon Richard (high jump, fourth, 6-8 3/4).
Softball
The Coastal Carolina softball team dropped a pair of games at the River City Leadoff Tournament.
In the first game, Tyler Ross hit a three-run home run to highlight a four-run third inning as N.C. State topped the Chants 5-1. Kelsey Dominick had the lone RBI for CCU.
In the second game, Stephanie Bryden homered and drove in five runs to lead UNC Greensboro to a 16-1 win over the Chants. Chelsea Davilar drove in a run for Coastal.
