UNC Asheville downs Coastal Carolina women

A sluggish second half sent the Coastal Carolina women’s basketball team to a 63-52 loss Monday against UNC Asheville inside The HTC Center.

The Chants (4-5, 0-2 Big South) had led 30-26 at halftime before shooting just 20.6 percent from the field (7-of-34) the rest of the way.

Ced Gibson had a team-high 13 points and five assists in the loss while Alexis Robinson finished with 12 points and eight rebounds.

Sonora Dengokl scored a game-high 14 points off the bench for UNC Asheville, which improved to 8-1 overall and 2-0 in the conference.

Coastal Carolina returns to action Friday at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center as it hosts Wake Forest.
