Men’s Basketball

Who: North Carolina Wesleyan at Coastal Carolina

Where: The HTC Center, Conway

When: 6:30 p.m. Wednesday

About the Chanticleers (4-4): Coastal Carolina is coming off an impressive 63-58 win over Radford to even its Big South record at 1-1. The Chants continue with their non-conference schedule now, looking to build some momentum with big road games at Wofford and Wake Forest looming next week. ... The most encouraging sign to come from the win Sunday was the play of sophomore guard Jaylen Shaw, who took over in the second half while finishing with 12 points and five assists. He could be a difference-maker for this team if he finds some consistency. ... Coastal Carolina is 2-0 all-time against North Carolina Wesleyan, picking up lopsided wins in 2010 (96-56) and in 2013 (89-54).

About the Battling Bishops (4-3): North Carolina A&T is a Division III program out of Rocky Mount, N.C. The Bishops played one other Big South opponent already this season, losing 93-69 at High Point last month. Overall, they average 84.4 points per game despite modest shooting numbers of 32.6 percent from 3-point range and 61.2 percent from the foul line. Senior guard D.J. Weaver leads the team in scoring at 14.1 points per game.

Women’s Basketball

Who: Warren Wilson at Coastal Carolina

Where: The HTC Center, Conway

When: 4 p.m. Wednesday

About the Chanticleers (3-4): The Coastal Carolina women have lost three straight after a strong start to the season, but they will have had an eight-day break when they return to the court Wednesday afternoon. This should be a confidence-boosting game against a non-NCAA program, but the bigger emphasis is that all ticket proceeds from both the women’s and men’s games Wednesday will go to support women’s basketball player Di’janai “DJ” Williams, who was diagnosed with Ovarian Teratoma Cancer shortly after arriving on campus in the fall to begin her freshman season. She is back home in Moreno Valley, Calif., and the money raised will go toward her treatment.

About the Owls (6-7): Warren Wilson College, located in Asheville, N.C., competes as a member of the USCAA. The Owls are led by Lilvia Bradbury, who averages 15 points per game and recently scored her 1,000th career point. The Owls have already played two other Big South schools, losing 95-56 at Presbyterian and 108-47 at UNC Asheville.
