Cross country

Coastal Carolina’s Letitia Saayman (17:07.40) and Aynslee van Graan (17:40.20) finished first and second as the Chants claimed third place in the 44-team Queens Royals XC Challenge on Friday.

Davidson won the 5K race.

Coastal’s Kyla van Graan (17:50.30) placed sixth, Rachel Byrd (18:39.90) was 12th and Regina Peattie (20:08.40) placed 108th.

The CCU men finished 24th.

The Chants’ Josh Small (26:11.60) was 64th, Riaz Tyler (27:14.90) was 133rd, Zach Hensel (27:50.50) was 164th, Charles Bascom (28:46.60) was 215th and Jarrett Ashby (30:07.30) was 270th.

Campbell won the 8K race.

Men’s golf

The Coastal Carolina men’s golf team shot 23-over 311 to sit in last place after the first round of the 15-team Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate.

The Chants were 22 strokes behind co-leaders Penn State, Virginia Commonwealth and Virginia Tech.

Coastal’s Alfredo Ruiz (75) was tied for 42nd, Harrison Frye (76) was tied for 51st, Olle Widegren (79) was tied for 69th, Josh Pisarri (81) was tied for 77th and Daniel Overas (84) was in 80th.

Volleyball

(At) Coastal Carolina 3, Charleston Southern 0: Annayka Legros had 10 kills, Eszter Nagy and Natasa Savovic added eight each and Carla Cahill had 12 digs to lead the Chants to a 25-13, 25-22, 25-13 victory.

Women’s soccer

(At) Coastal Carolina 5, Winthrop 1: Kayla Christian, Darbie Kelley and Daniella each scored in the first 28 minutes as the Chants built a big early lead en route to a win over the Eagles.

Amber Adams and Miki Antzoulatos added second-half goals for Coastal.
