Coastal Carolina roundup (Sept. 22)

Leah Hardeman had 13 kills and Eszter Nagy added nine as the Coastal Carolina volleyball team defeated South Carolina 25-15, 17-25, 25-15, 25-23 on Tuesday in Columbia.

It was the second straight season the Chanticleers beat their instate rival.

Men’s golf

The Coastal Carolina men’s golf team shot a final-round 18-over 306 to finish eighth in the Rees Jones Invitational at Daufuskie Island.

The Chants finished at 50-over 914, 49 shots behind winner Liberty.

Coastal’s Olle Widegren (76) tied for 13th (224), Alfredo Ruiz (77) tied for 21st (228), Luis Ruiz (77) and Thadd Obency II (76) tied for 37th (233) and Ryan Carpenter (84) finished 43rd (237).

Women’s golf

The Coastal Carolina women’s golf team shot a final-round 18-over 306 to finish 11th in the Lady Paladin Invitational in Greenville.

The Chants finished at 57-over 921, 50 strokes behind winner Missouri.

Coastal’s Bailey Cocca (74) tied for 39th (228), Malene Krolboll Hansen (77) tied for 43rd (228), Marie Lunackova (76) tied for 53rd (232), Barbora Bakova (79) tied for 71st (238) and Lena Schaeffner (82) tied for 75th (239).
