Coastal Carolina-FSU baseball NCAA elimination game postponed. Here’s the latest
Coastal Carolina baseball’s NCAA Tournament elimination game against Florida State has been suspended until Sunday.
The Chanticleers’ win-or-go-home matchup in the Tallahassee Regional with the host Seminoles started at 2 p.m. Saturday but was delayed twice by rain and eventually halted. The game will resume at 11 a.m. Sunday. TV and streaming details weren’t immediately known, but it’s expected the game will be available on ESPN+.
Florida State holds a 2-1 lead in the top of the sixth inning.
The fourth inning had just started Saturday when rain and stormy weather caused a 2.5-hour delay. Coastal and FSU finished the fourth and fifth innings before announcing they were, once again, going into a weather delay just before 6:15 p.m. The game remained in a weather delay before Coastal and FSU announced around 8:40 p.m. the game would be suspended until Sunday.
“We will not continue action tonight and are postponed for the night,” Coastal’s team X/Twitter account posted.
Both Coastal Carolina and Florida State are currently 0-1 in the Tallahassee Regional. Whoever eventually loses the matchup will be eliminated from the NCAA Tournament. The winner’s bracket game of the Tallahassee Regional between Northern Illinois and St. John’s was slated to start at 7 p.m. but was not played Saturday.
Friday’s games in the Tallahassee Regional were also affected by weather delays. Coastal Carolina’s 8 p.m. game vs. Northern Illinois did not start until closer to 9:30 and didn’t finish until after 1:30 a.m. on Saturday.
