Coastal Carolina tabbed fifth in STATS FCS Top 25 poll
The Coastal Carolina football team will start the season as a consensus top-5 team for the first time.
On Monday, the Chanticleers were tabbed fifth in the STATS FCS Top 25. Last week, the FCS coaches selected Coastal fifth in their poll.
The rankings are CCU’s highest ever to start a season. The Chants were ranked seventh and sixth in last season’s media and coaches polls, respectively.
Coastal finished last season ranked fifth in both polls.
The Chants, coming off back-to-back 12-win seasons, have reached the FCS quarterfinals each of the last two seasons.
Four-time defending national champion North Dakota – which elimnated CCU in the playoffs last year – was voted No. 1 in both polls.
