The viral tweet of Coastal Carolina football players showcased drinking, trash talking

Coastal Carolina football fans were happy with the result Tuesday, Oct. 10.

CCU beat its fierce rival Appalachian State in Boone, NC 27-24 on a walk-off field goal. It was the Chants’ first-ever win in Boone, but the rivalry between the two schools did not abate after CCU kicker Kade Hensley’s walk-off field goal.

Mountaineers fans threw things onto the field following the loss, including cans and other trash. CCU quarterback Grayson McCall taunted the crowd after the win yelling, “maybe next year” as taunts and garbage were thrown at him. About 45,000 people have viewed the video since it was published.

One CCU football player took advantage of Mountaineer’s fans lack of decorum.

Graduate student center Evan Jumper, who was starting for the injured Thomas Johnson, grabbed one of the cans thrown on the field and took a hardy sip in victory, all while an X (formerly known as Twitter) user took a video.

Jumper is 72 on CCU’s roster, and he seemingly confirmed it was him by reposting the video on X. The video has more than 62,000 views since posting.
