Sunday’s area sports briefs

Philippe Tsangarides, Kaue Pereira, Vuk Velickovic and Garik Yedigarian earned wins in Nos. 1-4 singles to lead the Coastal Carolina men’s tennis team to a 4-2 win over Gardner-Webb in the quarterfinals of the Big South tournament Sunday.

The Chanticleers will play Campbell at 10 a.m. Monday in the semifinals.

CCU women’s lacrosse

▪ (At) Coastal Carolina 17, Presbyterian 7 | Jen Cosgrove had six goals and Keri White and Sara Nolan had three goals each to lead the Chants past the Blue Hose.

CCU men’s golf

▪  The First round of the Big South Championship golf tournament was suspended by rain with no teams finishing the first round.

The first round will restart at 10 a.m. Monday and be followed by the second round.
