Two-game series with Atlantic Coast Conference powers Clemson, North Carolina and Wake Forest, and four home tournaments are part of Coastal Carolina’s non-conference schedule for the upcoming 2018 college baseball season.

The Chanticleers will open the season Feb. 16-19 by hosting the 18th annual Brittain Resorts Baseball at the Beach tournament with a quality field that features Indiana, Oklahoma, South Alabama, Kansas State and Virginia Tech.

The 2016 NCAA Division I baseball champions went 37-19-1 last season and won the 2017 Sun Belt Conference regular season title with a 20-7-1 record, yet missed the NCAA playoffs following a one-game exit in the conference tournament.

The other tournaments Coastal will host are Feb. 23-25, Mar. 2-4 and Mar. 9-11 and feature Virginia Commonwealth, West Virginia, Illinois, Maryland, Ball State, Radford, High Point and Ohio State.

In mid-week games, Coastal, ranked 17th in the D1Baseball.com list of top 100 programs in the nation, will welcome UNC Wilmington in February, Wake Forest, Connecticut and Clemson in March, and North Carolina in May as part of home-and-home series with those teams. The Chants will also play two games at region rival College of Charleston.

Among the Chants’ 18 non-conference opponents, 14 are on the D1Baseball.com list of top 100 programs in the nation and eight played in a 2017 NCAA Regional – Clemson, Maryland, Wake Forest, West Virginia, Radford, Oklahoma, Indiana and North Carolina.

The announcement of Coastal’s 10 three-game weekend series against Sun Belt opponents is expected later this fall, and tickets will go on sale when the entire schedule is released.
