CCU women’s soccer loses to South Alabama in Sun Belt final

South Alabama 2, Coastal Carolina 0: At Foley, Ala., after a scoreless first half, Jemma Purfield scored twice in the second half to lift the Jaguars to a victory in the Sun Belt championship match.

Purfield, the Sun Belt’s Player and Defender of the Year, scored in the 57th minute and again in the 85th minute as South Alabama advanced to the NCAA tournament.

Coastal (12-6-3) concluded the season with its best finish since the 2008 campaign.

The Chants’ Amber Adams, Kayla Christian, Sam Patterson and Ellie Taylor made the all-tournament team.
