South Carolina wants the architect of one of the best seasons in program history to keep building.
Basketball coach Frank Martin received a four-year contract extension when the USC Board of Trustees unanimously approved a new deal on Friday. Martin, entering his fifth season, agreed to a contract keeping him in Columbia through 2022.
Martin’s salary was raised from $2.1 million this year to $2.45 million in 2016-17, with $50,000 escalators each year through the life of the deal.
Martin’s buyout, which had dropped to $800,000 after this season and was set to fall to $500,000 after each of the next two seasons, was increased to $4.8 million after the coming season and $3.5 million the following season.
