South Carolina announces Bryan Edwards will enroll in January
South Carolina’s athletic department announced Wednesday that wide receiver Bryan Edwards has signed his financial aid agreement and will be an early enrollee come January.
The four-star prospect was a highly sought-after recruit who committed to Steve Spurrier’s staff, decommitted in November and then joined up again after meeting with Will Muschamp.
He caught 53 passes for 969 yards and nine touchdowns as a senior at Conway High School. Edwards was one of the state's top players this season until suffering a season-ending knee injury in late October. He finished his high school career with 188 catches for 2,562 yards and 32 touchdowns.
He was named to the Shrine Bowl roster and US Army All-American Game. Clemson also heavily pursued him.
He joins quarterback Brandon McIlwain, running back C.J. Freeman and junior college transfer cornerback Jamarcus King as mid-year signees for USC.
Coach Will Muschamp last week told The State that USC expects to sign “between five and seven” early enrollees. Conway wide receiver Bryan Edwards also is planning to enroll in January.
