College Football Playoff: Which four teams will emerge?
ACC
Clemson (10-0) will be heavy favorites against Wake Forest and South Carolina. Next would be a showdown with a red-hot North Carolina (9-1) in the ACC Championship Game. A Clemson loss in the title game could leave the ACC out in the cold.
BIG TEN
Ohio State (10-0) has showdowns against Michigan State (9-1) and Michigan (8-2). Win out and Urban Meyer’s team could face an Iowa (10-0) team ranked in the top five in the Big Ten Championship Game. Winner likely is in.
BIG 12
Oklahoma (9-1) and Oklahoma State (10-0) must survive showdowns Saturday (Sooners vs. TCU, Cowboys vs. Baylor) before they play in regular-season finale to determine the Big 12 champ and possible playoff spot.
SEC
Alabama (9-1) has games against Charleston Southern and Auburn before meeting Florida (9-1) in the SEC Championship Game. The Gators have games against FAU and FSU. The team that wins out is in.
PAC-12
Sorry, Pac-12. With Stanford (8-2) and Utah (8-2) both stumbling, the door to the playoff has effectively closed.
NOTRE DAME
A win in the regular-season finale against Stanford might not be enough to get in for the Irish (9-1).
AMERICAN
Houston (10-0) and Navy (8-1) are long-shots to make college football’s final four.
