How tall is Alicia Tournebize?
Well, if you look at South Carolina’s online roster it would tell you the French prospect who signed with the Gamecocks on Monday is 6-foot-4.
But is she actually taller?
Skim Milkey, the infamous women’s college hoops burner insider account on X/Twitter, posted Monday that Tournebize is actually 6-foot-7.
South Carolina head coach Dawn Staley — who touted Tournebize as the “tallest Gamecock” and “ready already” — shared a social media post of her own seemingly confirming the measurement.
“Yes SIX SEVEN!!” Staley posted to X.
Tournebize is listed as 6-foot-4 in just about every place you can find it online. Her FIBA bio, EuroBasket bio and Tango Bourges Basket bio all have her listed as 194 centimeters (or 6-foot-4).
After further investigation, a South Carolina athletics spokesperson was able to confirm to The State that Tournebize is in fact 6-foot-7. Meaning, her height will likely be updated on the official roster soon.
Tournebize, who will enroll early and join the Gamecocks after the holiday break, immediately becomes the tallest player on South Carolina’s roster.
USC has nine players last at 6-foot or taller and three at 6-foot-5 or taller. Forward Madina Okot, listed at 6-foot-6, was previously the tallest player on the team. Two-time national champ Kamilla Cardoso (6-7) was another recent standout.
Tournebize, who is 18 years old, is the second player of French descent to ever join the South Carolina women’s basketball program. The forward most recently played professionally in the Tango Bourges Basket of the EuroLeague Women in France. She averaged 2.4 points, 1.9 rebounds and just under one assist in 7.6 minutes across eight games this season.
“Alicia has an incredible skill set and basketball IQ,” Staley said in a release. “She has great touch around the rim, can shoot it out to the 3-point line and is a shot blocker. We’re excited that she and her family chose to bring her game to Columbia, and the FAMS are going to enjoy what she adds to our team on the court and off.”
