South Carolina lands commitment from JUCO offensive lineman, California native
South Carolina landed a big-bodied piece to its 2023 recruiting class.
Snow College offensive lineman Isaiah Jatta announced his commitment to the Gamecocks on Friday. He chose USC over FBS offers from Kansas, Eastern Michigan, Fresno State, Kent State and Utah State.
Jatta, who stands 6-foot-6 and weighs in at 310 pounds, is entering his first year of junior college football after a standout career at Helix Charter High School in San Diego. He received an offer from South Carolina on June 18 after participating in a camp during his unofficial visit to Columbia.
It’s anticipated South Carolina will lose a trio of starters on the offensive line — Eric Douglas, Dylan Wonnum and Jovaughn Gwyn — following the 2022 season as they exhaust their eligibility. Vershon Lee and Jaylen Nichols could also theoretically pursue professional opportunities depending on their campaigns.
Jatta is the ninth public commitment for the Gamecocks’ recruiting class.
He’s the second offensive lineman to join USC’s 2023 class along with three-star Georgia native Trovon Baugh. The Gamecocks also added a trio of bodies up front during the 2022 cycle in three-star prospects Grayson Mains, Ryan Brubaker and Cason Henry.
