Gamecocks land commitment from California quarterback with ties to Spencer Rattler
South Carolina football added to its quarterback room.
Three-star prospect Jalen Daniels announced Thursday that he is committed to the Gamecock football program. He will walk on with USC and be on the roster this year.
Daniels, who just graduated from Lincoln High School in San Diego, visited South Carolina this week and was seen spending a lot of time with Gamecocks offensive coordinator Marcus Satterfield at Thursday’s Beamer 7-on-7 tournament.
The 6-foot-5 Daniels has ties to current USC quarterback Spencer Rattler. The two use the same trainer Mike Giovando of Arizona-based Elev8QBAcademy. Daniels is originally from Arizona but played this season at Lincoln High in San Diego.
Rattler posted a message on Twitter after Daniels’ announcement.
“AZ boys in SC! Let’s work lil bro,” Rattler wrote.
Daniels completed 63% of his passes for 2,442 yards and 18 touchdowns this season at Lincoln. He also ran for 183 yards and four TDs.
Before going to Lincoln, he was at Red Mountain High School in Arizona. Syracuse was the first school to offer Daniels before the start of his senior season.
With the addition of Daniels, USC’s quarterbacks will be Rattler, Luke Doty, Braden Davis, Colten Gauthier and Tanner Bailey. All of those QBS are under scholarship for 2022.
