UNC’s Mack Brown gets commitment from another 4-star, in-state football player
Keeshawn Silver, a four-star defensive lineman from Rocky Mount High School, committed to North Carolina Tuesday night.
The commitment was announced on his Twitter account Tuesday night.
The tweet, posted around 11:30 p.m., included the message: “I will be continuing my education (and) athletic career at “THE UNIVERSITY OF NORTH CAROLINA! #GOHEELS.”
Silver, who is, 6-5 and 236 pounds, is the No. 5 player in the state in the class of 2021, according to 247Sports. He’s ranked as the No. 8 strong side defensive end in the country. He picked UNC over Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona State and Auburn, among others.
At The Opening regional combine last April, Silver posted some eye-popping numbers. He ran a 4.96 40, posted a 35.40 vertical inch and did the shuttle in 4.60.
As a junior, Silver finished the season with 47 tackles and 13.0 tackles for loss. He led the team with seven sacks. He also caught one pass for a 20-yard touchdown.
Mack Brown has six commitments for the class of 2021, with Silver being the highest-ranking commitment so far. All six commitments are from the state of North Carolina. Five of the six commitments are four-star prospects. Carolina’s current class is ranked No. 3 in the ACC and No. 8 in the country.
