NFL Fans React To Seahawks, Patriots Season Opener

The NFL's official 2026 season opener is set.

The New England Patriots will be traveling to Seattle, to take on the defending Super Bowl champion Seahawks, in a rematch of the championship game from February. The Seahawks will be opening the season up at home, on NBC, as they welcome the Patriots to Seattle.

It's official.

The game is set for Wednesday night, Sept. 9, 2026.

The Seahawks will be looking to repeat as Super Bowl champions in 2026-27, while the Patriots will be looking to make it back to the big game.

NFL fans react to Patriots, Seahawks matchup

NFL fans are weighing in.

"Kicking off the 2026 Season with a Super Bowl Rematch on a Wednesday Lets. Go," one fan wrote.

"The NFL going with a Patriots/Seahawks Super Bowl rematch to open the season is fascinating for so many reasons. A) The game itself wasn't exactly a classic. B) The NFL hasn't opened with a Super Bowl rematch since Broncos/Panthers in 2016. C) The Mike Vrabel storyline is 1000% not going away - and this will only shine an even bigger spotlight on it leading up," one fan added.

"I could be wrong on this but it feels like the league wants Bears/Seahawks to be one of those late season all out wars on SNF that determines seeding," one fan added.

Of course, not everyone is happy.

"Rematch of a crappy, Super Bowl. Ok man," one fan added.

"Maye had like 60 yards through 3 quarters last time we played, no one wants to see this on kickoff night man," one fan added.

What do you make of the NFL opening the 2026 season with a rematch of last year's Super Bowl, between the Patriots and Seahawks?
