Jemele Hill Sends Harsh Truth To Patriots About Mike Vrabel
The New England Patriots entered the 2026 offseason feeling good about their future under Mike Vrabel. Now, people are wondering if he'll even lead the franchise much longer.
On April 7, Page Six shared photos of Vrabel spending time with NFL insider Dianna Russini at a hotel in Arizona. Although she denied any wrongdoing, she resigned from her position with The Athletic. Vrabel, meanwhile, announced that he'd undergo counseling. As of this moment, he and his wife Jen are still together.
Earlier this week, TMZ added more fuel to the fire by reporting that Russini and Vrabel rented a boat in Tennessee back in June 2021.
"The timing of that outing might raise a few eyebrows, because Russini was pregnant at the time with her first child. Documents, obtained by TMZ Sports, show both signed the company waiver before heading out on a lake … and our source says there was no visible PDA before they departed," TMZ reported. "We're also told Vrabel and Russini appeared cautious about photos being taken, and while she declined to pose at all with the staff … Vrabel agreed to snap one pic, but allegedly asked that no images be publicly posted."
TMZ later shared footage from Russini and Vrabel's boat day. That led to former ESPN broadcaster Jemele Hill sending a stern message to the Patriots.
"I wrote this a couple weeks ago for @TheAtlantic , the Patriots are fooling themselves if they think this story is just going to go away," Hill wrote on X. "Now that it's crossed over into tabloid territory, they're not only going to be digging through the crates, but following his every move from here on out."
Hill isn't wrong about certain publications following every move Vrabel makes. It seems like a new story has dropped every week since the start of April.
Will the Patriots move on from Vrabel?
Prior to the start of the 2026 NFL Draft, the Patriots gave Vrabel their full support. That hasn't stopped fans and media members from speculating about his future in New England.
Some people, like WFAN host Brandon Tierney, believe there's no way Vrabel should coach the Patriots next season.
"There's no way Vrabel can coach the Patriots," Tierney said. "It's officially hit the point of no return."
As of this moment, the Patriots haven't given any indication they're willing to move on from the reigning Coach of the Year. That being said, prediction markets have lowered Vrabel's chances of being in New England by Week 1.
