Zack Byrd shot a 68-65 to win his second straight event on the GPro tour, this one at Cowans Ford Golf Club.
The Murrells Inlet native shot 7-under par in the closing round, beginning with a first-hole eagle and a birdie on the second hole to open his day. He also birdied holes four, five, 12, 14 and 16, and notched another eagle on 15 to best Richard Fountain (68-66) by a stroke. Byrd took home $3,000 for the win as he prepares for a PGA Tour Canada Qualifying Tournament Tuesday through Friday at Panther Lake Golf Club in Winter Garden, Fla.
High school boys golf
Jake DuPuis took medalist honors with a 1-under 35 at Black Bear Golf Club, but Brady Lane shot a 40 and the Braves had three others shoot 44 or better to take the three-team match.
