Grand Strand viewer’s guide for the sports week ahead (Nov. 7-Nov. 13, 2016)

▪ The Coastal Carolina football team will the second of four straight home games to conclude the season as it hosts Bryant at 2 p.m. Saturday.

▪ The CCU men’s basketball team opens the season at Alabama at 9 p.m. Friday as part of the MGM Main Event tournament.

▪ Coastal Carolina’s women’s basketball team opens the season Friday with a game at Clemson at noon.

▪ The South Carolina men’s basketball team hosts Louisiana Tech at 6:30 p.m. Friday to open the season.

▪ The Clemson men’s basketball team hosts Georgia in its season opener at 7 p.m. Friday.

▪ The Coastal Carolina men’s soccer team debuts in the Sun Belt tournament as the top seed in the semifinals Friday at 3 p.m. against the winner of Thursday’s Hartwick-Appalachian State quarterfinal matchup. The tournament is being played in Atlanta.

▪ CCU’s volleyball team finished up regular-season play with home matches against Troy (6 p.m. Friday) and South Alabama (1 p.m. Sunday).

▪ The Clemson football team will look to remain unbeaten as it hosts Pittsburgh at 3:30 p.m. Saturday.

▪ The South Carolina football team is looking to win its fourth straight as it heads to Gainesville, Fla., to take on Florida at noon Saturday.

▪ Fresh off Sunday’s 13-10 win over the Los Angeles Rams, the Carolina Panthers will look to push their winning streak to three games as they host the Kansas City Chiefs at 1 p.m. next Sunday (Fox).

▪ NASCAR’s Chase for the Sprint Cup title will enter its second-to-last race as it heads to Phoenix International Raceway for the Can-Am 500. After that race, the Chase will be cut to four drivers as it enters the season-ending Ford Ecoboost 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

▪ The PGA Tour will be at El Camaleon Golf Club in Playa del Carmen, Mexico, for the OHL Classic at Mayakoba.

▪ With the season having been pushed back two weeks because of the effects of Hurricane Matthew, the high school football regular-season will final come to a conclusion with this week’s games. The Playoffs open the following Friday.

▪ The lone area non-football fall sports team still alive, the Myrtle Beach volleyball squad, is set to host Lugoff-Elgin at 6 p.m. Tuesday with a trip to the Class 4A state final on the line. Should the Seahawks win, they’ll play in the championship at 4:30 p.m. Saturday at Dutch Fork High School.
