Grand Strand viewer’s guide for the sports week ahead (Oct. 24-30, 2016)
▪ The Coastal Carolina football team will play its final road game of the season as it visits Presbyterian at 2 p.m. Saturday.
▪ The CCU women’s golf team continues play in the Palmetto Intercollegiate at Kiawah Island through Tuesday.
▪ Coastal’s volleyball team will be on the road for a pair matches this week, visiting South Alabama (6:30 p.m. Friday) and Troy (6 p.m. Saturday).
▪ The CCU men’s golf team begins play in the CSU Wendy’s Classic in Charleston on Sunday.
▪ The Coastal men’s soccer team will be fresh off a week off before it travels across the country to take on UCLA at 7 p.m. Saturday.
▪ CCU’s men’s and women’s cross country teams will make their debut in the Sun Belt Championships on Saturday.
▪ Coming off a bye week, the Clemson football team will return to likely one of its biggest tests of the season as it heads to Tallahassee, Fla., to take on Florida State.
▪ Fresh off a win over Massachusetts, the South Carolina football team gets back to SEC play when it hosts Tennessee at 7:15 p.m. Saturday.
▪ Major League Baseball’s World Series begins Tuesday, with the Cleveland Indians hosting the Chicago Cubs in Game 1 of the best-of-seven series at 8 p.m. (Fox).
▪ The NBA season tips off Tuesday with a pair of televised games. After receiving their NBA championship rings, the Cleveland Cavaliers will host the New York Knicks at 7:30 p.m., followed by the San Antonio Spurs taking on the Warriors in Golden State. Both games are on TNT.
▪ Tennis returns to the spotlight as the BNP Paribas WTA Finals continue through Oct. 30.
▪ Coming off a much needed bye week, the Carolina Panthers host the Arizona Cardinals at 1 p.m. Sunday in a rematch of the 2015 NFC Championship Game.
▪ In golf this week, there are two events that will feature PGA Tour players in the Sanderson Farms Championship and the WGC-HSBC Champions.
