I would have posted this earlier, but I’ve been out of the office most of the week dealing with some personal business.

But this is the on the old air base in Myrtle Beach early Sunday morning as I was on a training run for next month’s half marathon: two Myrtle Beach police officers squatting to help a woman change a flat tire off Farrow Parkway.

While all the other news is important - including a great tally showing there is no “war on cops” even though some folks are claiming there is - and reform must remain our focus, it would be harder to do that if we don’t remember to show a rounded view of what’s going on.

Many cops serve and protect, just as they are tasked with doing. We shouldn’t forget that - and neither should we forget that most black men are not out committing violent acts. I’ve said before, and will again, that like it or not, these two groups need each other if either wants to get to a better place.
