The NRA plus guns stand for “No Real Accountability”

There have been a few articles in The Sun News recently about gun violence, past and present, and about the National Rifle Association.

The dialogue is good and hopefully, along with some common sense, we can find a solution to reduce some of the bloodshed.

Gun control is an oxymoron that is non-existent.

Good gun control means using two hands, we are told. Makes sense, right?

I'd like to talk about reducing the killing and slaughters around the country. If the NRA was willing to use its power, that would be a start. Wayne LaPierre and NRA followers let ego, arrogance, closed minds and political money rule over them.

They're quick to roll out the Second Amendment. You're not taking my guns and blah, blah, blah.

I've been a gun owner for more than 40 and am a former NRA member. Vehicles, cigarettes, booze and other things take move lives than guns, I believe. We make improvements as needed with those things. Why not with guns?

The Second Amendment does not grant us any rights; rather, it is a restriction on the government from infringing on rights granted by our creator. The right to bear arms does not supersede the right to life.

Murder is against the law, correct? If the NRA is a patriotic as one writer states, then they should step up to the plate and lead the way to reducing the bloodshed. The technology has been around forever. It's simple to personalize a gun.

It won't stop every murder but hopefully slow some of the crazy killers down.

If LaPierre and followers can't or won't find a solution, maybe we could rename the NRA to “No Real Action” or “No Real Accountability” or a little of both. Congress needs to step up to the plate also and stop worrying about re-election.

America is one of the only countries that has failed so far to reduce gun violence. It's a complex problem with too many loopholes. Doing nothing equates to saying murder is OK.

A civilized country can and needs to do better. We need to bring the common back to common sense.
