Samples has right experience to lead Surfside

As a resident of Surfside Beach for the past 20 years, I have witnessed all the town elections since 1997 and have often been disappointed with the truthfulness and quality of information that goes around town.

This year’s election for Town Council has been most controversial, with nasty, untrue information and smut widely circulated verbally, through emails and Facebook, and by tacky mailers. But I think our voters will see past this misinformation.

I believe the most qualified and best person for Town Council is Julie Samples. Her 25 years local - Surfside - experience makes her 10 times more qualified than her opponent’s two year Surfside residency.

I have always seen Julie dedicated to the “Family Beach” values and high quality of life for town residents, tourists and businesses. Julie is caring and competent, with the highest integrity. Over the years, Julie has been involved in varying roles with many town initiatives, helping to make positive improvements and progress for Surfside Beach in these areas: police and fire safety; budgeting and low taxation; zoning; traffic and roads improvement; storm water; seniors' benefits; education; health and wellness; Surfside Beach beautification and recreation.

I appeal to Surfside residents to really get out there and vote on Tuesday, Aug. 23. Let's show the community we are greatly behind Julie Samples - our local - very experienced candidate for Town Council.

Shelby Smith, Surfside Beach
