Myrtle Beach has earned trashy, ‘Redneck Riviera’ label

I know many leaders in Horry County, on the Grand Strand, and especially in Myrtle Beach, do not appreciate this area being referred to as “The Redneck Riviera.”

But when driving down S.C. 544 and U.S. 501, especially over the Intracoastal Waterway and on U.S. 17 Bypass over U.S. 501, people see trash, dirt piled so high weeds grow in it, broken limbs, and weeds growing in cracks in the road and sidewalks.

I would suggest that these roads look like a trash dump. However, that would be an insult to our recycling centers in this Horry County. Those sites are immaculate.

So what do these roads look like? Oh yeah, a redneck's yard.
