No new tourism tax without transparency
I applaud North Myrtle Beach for not imposing a tourism tax. I do not live in NMB, nor do I live in Myrtle Beach. I think any tourism tax needs to be transparent.
How much does the chamber of commerce contribute? It seems to me they should be contributing.
Exactly where is the money being spent? Television ads? Print magazines? Myrtle Beach takes in millions of dollars and doles it out for tourism. Apparently, enough leftover money was used by politicians to take a trip to China to promote a proposed Chinese cultural center. Well, I will not be going there! To support a country that just recently allowed crosses to be torn off churches in a northern area of that country is appalling. It seems everything is for the business community. How about the rest of us?
