Irresponsible drivers should stop ignoring fire zone signs

“Fire Lane No Parking or Standing.”

Does anyone know what this sign means? It is usually accompanied with bright stripes of paint on the surface of the area that is deemed a fire lane. Do you think those signs don't apply to you because you're elderly, it's raining, too hot or just in a hurry? If so, you're wrong!

They were put there so that in the event of a fire, fire trucks could get as close to the building as possible. Additionally, disregarding these signs often presents a traffic hazard when trying to navigate the obstacle course of parked vehicles.

Check out any Walmart or grocery store, regardless of the time of day or night, and count the number of illegally parked cars in front of the store. If the police would randomly drive by these stores, they could make a fortune by ticketing violators. Or they could be compassionate and just issue warnings in the hopes that the violator would think twice before parking illegally again.
