Famous cartoon now way too depressing and politicized

I have been sitting here trying to figure out what’s funny about the July 17 “Not a Racist!” Doonesbury strip.

It appears to me that it should be on the opinion page.

I used to love reading Doonesbury years ago, but more and more he appeared to me to be nothing more than a Democratic shill. And when he wasn’t insulting anyone not Democratic, his strip was about drugs and seeking to mock the men and women engaged in American wars with Islamic terrorists.

I quit reading him a long time ago. But you can’t get to the second page strips without seeing what I think is just one more insult to your readers who are conservative, Republican, or even independents, like me, who quite frankly, want to be able to read the comic pages and find something truly amusing in a world with seemingly nothing but death, race politics and international ideological wars.

We need something to smile about friends. Please put this character somewhere else besides the comic pages. There is grief and strife and conflict in America every single day that causes one to be concerned about the health and well-being of our humanity in America. We simply do not need more of Doonesbury’s political rant.
