No good reason to discriminate against golf carts in NMB

For many years, we have enjoyed the wonderful concerts on Main Street in North Myrtle Beach. At our most recent concert, there was a sign reading “no golf carts.” I am trying to understand what complaint concert goers have regarding the golf carts at the concerts?

Certainly, the carts are not obstructing the view of those in the designated seated area. The carts are not even infringing on the dance area.

Those of us who drive our golf carts to the concerts weekly are locals who pay taxes in North Myrtle Beach. Those taxes went to pay for the lovely concert stage, along with attracting the entertainment. Further, we pay for the permit to drive our carts. Additionally, many of the complaints came from people who do not even live in South Carolina.

Perhaps all of the concerts should be held on Main Street -- not in the “horseshoe” area, or maybe block off Ocean Boulevard for the two-hour concerts. Certainly there could be a compromise to please all who enjoy attending the concerts.
