Final Murrells Inlet Community Theatre play takes on ageism
As Jim R. Rogers’ wife and now the producer of his first play, I admit to being very biased as Jim’s work on his aging journey moves from the page to the stage.
“Geriatric Monologues” (perhaps more accurately called a staged reading than a play) will be funny and poignant – but more than that, I think it has great potential to create the space for important conversations between adult children and their parents, between caregivers and the people they serve, with business and service and medical and professional people who work with older folks, with students moving into these fields.
That’s why I am taking the time to write this letter. Raising awareness of and healing ageism are too important to ignore.
Sadly, this play marks the closing of the Murrells Inlet Community Theatre. We are grateful to be there for June 17-18-19 and June 24-25-26 and hope you will join us.
Tickets are available at the door (no credits card, please) or may be reserved in advance by calling (843) 651-4152.
