Coach Peterman in Georgetown has no equal
I saw Coach Bill Peterman a few weeks back, at a track meet, and wondered how he does it. Pete, as some call him, hinted around at this being his last season of coaching. I hope not. He has a positive influence on many of today's youth.
He has won four state titles at three schools within the same county.
He has coached in South Carolina since 2002 and each school - Andrews (2 titles), Carvers Bay (1), and now Waccamaw with its first state in track and field - has been a championship under him, which maybe unheard of.
He has also coached between 90 to 100 individual state champions during his career, including coaching in Ohio before he moved south. We believe the number is 97. Quite a streak.
I hope to see Coach Peterman next season - and hope he makes it 100 athletes.
