Memorial Day is gone, but flags should remain

More than 300 American flags flew on Memorial Day, the most solemn of our national holidays. The Parade of American Flags were flying on U.S. 17 Business and U.S. 17.

The Murrells Inlet Elks Lodge #2797 flag committee placed 120 American flags for the sixth year on U.S. 17 Business in Murrells Inlet. American flags flew from the county line to Allston Plantation.

Flags flew in front of the Cottages in Murrells Inlet, down Willbrook Boulevard at the Community Church, at Williams Carpet in Pawleys Island.

Drive U.S. 17 Business 17, and you could see the awesome display of beautiful American flags.

We hope businesses, community organizations and members of the community will continue to add more American flags on the U.S. 17 corridor. Americanism, pride, beauty of Old Glory, let the tourist - and our veterans - see how Georgetown County feels about our country and their service.
