Surfside Beach candidate rebuffs letter of signage
Re Michael LaFramboise letter Thursday opposing my re-election:
There seems to be a misunderstanding regarding my involvement in Mr. LaFramboise’ business. I did visit his store after a very contentious statement he made during a council meeting. I went to his store to offer support and wish him well, I meant it then as I do now.
Mr. LaFramboise put up an illegal sign without a permit and was asked to have it removed and refused. He has since complied. Being asked to follow our laws is not harrassment. Everyone is treated equally to the same ordinance, and the town cannot ask for some to comply and not all.
The planning and zoning department spent many hours coming up with alternatives to help with a legal way for him to have more signage. As for my husband, I doubt he even knows the business exists. I am unsure who is feeding Mr. LaFramboise his information but it is wrong. Our businesses serve the needs of our community and we all wish them great success.
