Easter Sunday: A day about resurrection
The gospel is all about the Resurrection. Jesus came to earth, lived a perfect life, died, and was raised from the dead to save us from our sins.
If Jesus was not raised from the dead, then our faith and religion is useless (1 Corinthians 15). But, Jesus was raised from the dead. And if we re-enact His death, burial, and resurrection in New Testament baptism, we too are raised to walk in a new life (Romans 6:1-4).
This process is the “born again” experience of water and Spirit (John 3:1-7). This baptismal experience is essential to our salvation and it was made reality by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead (1 Peter 3:21). The world is recognizing His resurrection this morning. But Christians recognize it every Sunday morning.
The gospel is all about the resurrection, because it is the only way those of us who die will be able to reunite with the living on Judgment Day (1 Thessalonians 4). On that day, we will be raised with a new body to live eternally in either heaven or hell. In order to be raised with Christ on that day, and live in heaven, we must live the resurrection life every day as born again children of God. It’s all about the Resurrection.
