Highland Games a pleasure to behold
Congratulations to the Myrtle Beach Highland Games. My wife and I were recently in Ireland and Scotland and were excited to hear about the event, but kept expectations low considering it would be a first-year event and there is minimal Scottish influence in the Myrtle Beach area.
I am happy to say that our expectations were blown away and we thoroughly enjoyed our time there. We had planned on staying 1 to 2 hours, arriving at 10 a.m. for the opening ceremony but we ended up staying until the event was winding down around 5 p.m. Had it gone later in the evening, we would have been there!
The physical competitions were so engaging, the artwork and crafts for sale excellent in quality, and the entertainment was the overall highlight for us. SYR was great, but Tuatha Dea was a world class act, especially on their finale where they had members of the audience participating in a 5 or 6 minutes drum-fest! The entire festival was family-friendly and overall fantastic! Looking forward to next year.
