Unlike the national election, the mayoral race in Surfside Beach is one in which the candidates are talking ideas and direction. Both candidates, Bob Childs and Doug Samples, are selfless servants of the town.
But Mayor Samples has been the leading force in turning the town around. Financial disorder and scandals are in the past. In the last four years, the mayor has set a course to continue to keep taxes low, while providing the best services on the Grand Strand. He has a vision for the future, which while providing for updates and progress, allows the town to maintain its “Family Beach” spirit and charm.
As recently deceased Councilman Ralph Magliette used to say, “Surfside Beach is a Gem.” I believe that Mayor Samples deserves the opportunity to continue polishing that gem for another four years.
