Poll workers send big ‘thank you’ to rec center
I read a tribute to the precinct managers of Horry County for the part that we play in elections here last week.
I would be remiss in my responsibility as clerk at the Crescent Beach precinct if I did not have a word to say about the staff at the North Myrtle Beach Recreation Center on Possum Trot Road, for the big part they play in our elections. Gregg Barnhill and his staff put out signs for me, allow me to use two rooms for voting (because it provides privacy for the citizens to vote), and they are kind and generous with allowing me the use of whatever equipment (tables, chairs, etc.) needed to make the election a success.
I suppose one of the biggest perks is, in the 25 years that I have worked there, I have always had access to this great facility to be able to get in and do my job at promptly 6 a.m. on election day. We try to tidy up after elections, but the staff at the Rec Center always pick up the signs and store them for the next election and they safeguard our machines until they are picked up by the Board of Registration & Elections employees.
This kind of cooperation for the voting process is necessary, and so much appreciated. This is the best precinct site in which to work in Horry County. The NMB Power Squadron was having a training session at the Rec Center this past Saturday, and provided us with a delicious lunch! What a perk! Thank you - Clarks!
