State agency doesn’t need raises
I recently read the article about state Sen. Hugh Leatherman, who chairs the salary-setting commission concerning raises for department heads. He approves of giving raises to 21 directors to keep them on the job. Really?
Those salaries are inflated to begin with. If they don't like what they are getting paid, then let them leave. I am sure there are many who would be happy to take the position at lower salary.
Having worked in government for many years, department heads, supervisors, directors, etc., don't do anything to deserve the pay. It's the poor person at the bottom who needs help and more money.
