Myrtle Beach spokesman: County, not city working to close Badd Kitty

Re Sunday letter, “City meddles in morality issues”:

This was apparently in reaction to your recent story about Horry County's lawsuit against Badd Kitty. The city is not involved in this, nor is the store in question inside the city.

Myrtle Beach has established zoning for adult entertainment businesses, but has not “outlawed strip clubs,” as stated in the letter. This is another example of why we stress where city limit lines are and why what's in versus what's out really matters. It complicates things when Myrtle Beach Mall isn't inside the city, but that's when we look to the news media to explain and enlighten.

Mark Kruea, Myrtle Beach city spokesman
