Political correctness is ruining our country

Re the lead letter of the week on Monday, “Political Correctness means being decent and respectful”:

This was one of the most ridiculous things I've ever read. The writer makes the absurd claim that PC is a good thing that has gotten a bad connotation. What nonsense.

Let me give you some examples of what political correctness really is.

PC is an entire town being forced to take down their community Christmas tree because of one disgruntled troublemaker. PC is TSA agents being forced to scrutinize and search 80-year-old grandmothers instead of someone who matches the profile of a terrorist. PC is a first grade boy being suspended for complimenting a classmate.

PC is the mayor of New York City considering banning gender-specific public bathrooms because they are offensive to transgenders. PC is hiring or promoting someone who is less competent than their competition simply because of gender, race or sexual orientation.

Political correctness is just plain stupidity and a cancer that has weakened and is killing the once great United States of America.
