Securing Social Security: Every vote counts
Voters and especially seniors, please listen and pay close attention to what the people running for President are saying. Do you hear them talking about what is best for you? What about Social Security? Have they given any indication on making it better and lasting throughout our lives and those coming after us?
Remember, they don't have to worry about that if they are elected, they are set for life. Are you, after you retire? What are they saying about Medicare? Are they going to make it better? Are we going to get some decent increases in Social Security? Everything in our daily lives goes up: food, electric, water and sewage, health insurance and medicine, but our Social Security checks don't match those increases.
Many seniors are suffering; they don't know whether to buy medicine, food or pay bills. Is that fair? We hear candidates talking about repealing the Affordable Care Act. It may not affect you, but what about the people that it will affect, especially our veterans? Think about this. Are they thinking about our needs and talking about how they can make things better, or are they spending too much time getting at each other?
Many of the candidates were in South Carolina during the State Fair on Senior Day, but none stopped by to meet and greet, so what does that tell you? Our Columbia politicians would not accept Medicaid expansion; think about how many people that would have helped. Were you one of them? Think, listen, check the facts, but by all means get out and vote because a no vote is a vote for who you don't want.
