Not so pleased with Seacoast Medical Center performance
Re Mayor Marilyn Hatley's letter on Thursday:
She raved about McLeod Seacoast Medical Center and I'm glad she was treated so well but have to say, my and my wife's experience was much different.
Between the two of us we've had two surgeries in the two years we've lived here but have had many dealings with the hospital, lab work, etc. I was almost late for my knee replacement because of inadequacy in the handling of the paperwork. This was supposedly done two weeks prior, all I had to do was go check in.
I was in the hospital for three days and had to ask many times to get soap and water and my bed sheets changed. All the nurses were very nice, no complaint there but the follow through, not so much.
We only live a short distance from the hospital and thought, how convenient. Since that happened, we have been told by others of issues they have had and would go elsewhere if needed. As long as they are adding on and getting in new equipment, I sincerely hope they do get their act together and become a professional institution we will be proud of.
In closing, I have two questions. Being the North Myrtle Beach Mayor, is Ms. Hatley you selling a product, which is part of her job and does she think she possibly got a little more preferential treatment because of who she is?
Again, we are one of many that have had issues at this hospital.
The writer lives in Longs.
