Writers bashing guns are both wrong

Two letters in Monday’s paper prompted me to write. The first, from Terry Munson, laughingly blames the NRA and Wayne LaPierre for the mass shootings that occur from time to time in America. First of all, neither LaPierre nor any NRA member has ever been involved in a mass murder.

Second, when these incidents do occur, there is a direct correlation between the number of victims and the time it takes for the first armed responder, be it police officer or citizen, to arrive. The actual goal of Munson and the left is the total disarming of the American citizen and the abolishment of the Second Amendment.

Of course, criminals will always get weapons and that seems to escape their logic .As for Munson, consider this. If you're in a restaurant with your family and somebody comes in to do violence, would you rather have a group of anti-gun sign wavers at the next table, or myself and a few armed citizens who can take them down?

The second letter was from John B.Costa on Syrian refugees. I'll try to give Mr. Costa the benefit of the doubt and assume he's been asleep for the past few months, or just watching MSNBC a/k/a the Obama media. Mr. Costa believes our intelligence agencies will keep out the “bad guys.” Clearly he missed the Congressional hearings of late wherein the heads of all the intelligence agencies testified that they have no database to find out anything about these refugees and therefore don't have a clue who's coming here.

There are plenty of videos out there showing these refugees. Most of them appear to be young, healthy males. There are few women and children to be found. Considering these pesky little truths, plus ISIS' own stated intention to infiltrate western Europe and the United States by blending in with the refugees, I wouldn't be in such a hurry to bring them here.
