Government can’t be trusted with refugees
Re Monday letter stating it is our duty to welcome Syrian refugees:
I do agree in most parts with his letter but while watching a deputy director of Homeland Security on CSPAN, who was asked by members of the panel many questions such as, the number of Syrians already in this country, how many U.S. Citizens have gone to the war area of Iraq and returned, and how many individuals have overstayed their visas.
The deputy director could not answer any one of these plus other questions pertaining to Syrian refugees and others that the panel posed to her. This type of ignorance of her job certainly did not make me feel safe. If in the private sector I did as poorly as this woman I would have been fired long ago.
But she along with other government employees who just come to work to do nothing still go on and receive their checks and raises. How many people work for the federal government? I guess about half. The faith-based groups that sponsored the 13 Syrians into the Midlands of South Carolina felt they were doing what they should.
I agree that they deserve a better life but just like our illegal aliens, the first place these people go is to the welfare office. Why should our tax money pay for these people to have a better life? Did the country of their origin give them welfare? Certainly not. Did Syria, Iran, Mexico, etc. give them assistance? Certainly not.
These people also aid in the dumbing down of our American students by not learning the English language. My parents were immigrants but their children had to learn English in order to go to school. I had to go to an ethnic school for 3 years to be taught English before I went to an English-speaking school.
Our country is nearly bankrupt by paying for others to get free stuff. Enough already. Our politicians keep agreeing to raise our debt level. The easiest ways to stop illegals and others is to stop the free stuff and 95 percent will run back home.
What has happened to my beloved country? The politicians don't care about you and me, they worry about getting re-elected and getting what they can. How do politicians go into office as paupers and end up as millionaires? They are a disgrace.
