Newcomer likes the area, but must learn ‘rules of the road’
Things I have learned since moving to Myrtle Beach:
1. Stop signs are only a suggestion.
2. Pickup trucks come with a trailer hitch as standard equipment.
3. Trailers attached to said hitches do not have to have a license plate, stop lights or turn signals.
4. It is permissible to ride for a long distance in the “turning lane.” I have heard these lanes called “suicide lanes” and I now understand why.
5. I have a “Northern accent.”
I have also learned the people here are polite, hold doors for you and for the most part are friendly. Sales clerks are helpful and willing to go the extra mile to accommodate your needs. Waiters and waitresses smile a lot.
I think I will like it here once I learn the “rules of the road.”
