Illegal immigrant still the correct term

Ilegal immigrant still correct term

Re Nov. 25 story, “Clinton says using term 'illegal immigrant' was a poor choice of words”

Just what other term can be used? If you aren't here legally, then how can you be anything but an illegal immigrant? When Clinton first ran against Obama for the Democratic presidential nomination, she said that they weren't “illegal immigrants,” they were “undocumented workers” and my reply on these same pages was, “calling an illegal immigrant an undocumented worker is like calling a drug dealer an unlicensed pharmacist.”

So just what magic word should be used so we won't offend somebody who is not here legally? Clinton said “that was a poor choice of words” and apologized. Apologized for what? That choice of words was probably the only honest and accurate words she has ever spoken. So I ask again, what word should be used except for illegal, when that is the only word that applies?
