Social Security a pile of IOUs

First, kudos to Al Freedman for exposing the hypocrisy as well as all the lies surrounding Social Security in his Monday letter to The Sun News.

Who can ever forget Al Gore in the 2000 campaign pledging to protect the Social Security “Lock Box?” He spent decades in the U.S. Senate and as vice president, and he didn't know that the Democrats had broken into the lock box about 30 years earlier and had left it bare; basically $2.7 trillion has been embezzled so far.

When you hear that Social Security will run out of money on a certain date, that is another lie; it will still have a pile of IOUs in the lock box which it can cut up into little pieces and mail out. Actually, the politicians can pay off the IOUs or Social Security taxes can go up. Which do you think will happen?

It is a scam similar to the one conducted by Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels in the original movie, Dumb and Dumber, when, as they traveled from Providence to Aspen, they took cash from the stolen briefcase and inserted IOUs - worthless ones, but at least they had good intentions. Keep in mind that there are some liberals in high places who want to do to IRAs what they did to Social Security - that is take the money, spend it, and give you an IOU.
