Taking in refugees helps allies

The Associated Press

Many of my conservative friends are terribly upset that we are taking in refugees, despite the possibility that they could be dangerous and the fact that we have plenty of homeless veterans here already, whom we haven't helped yet.

Here's the issue I see. The President agreed to take in some refugees at the behest of our European Union friends. They have become flooded with desperate middle-easterners, while at the same time, our President has been asking them for help in the fight against Isis.

I imagine our allies have had a conversation with our government, saying, “America, you need to help us out here. The Syrian rebels, Isis and Iraq have always been your baby, yet all these refugees are coming here, to Europe.” Would it be the end of our alliance, if we told our E.U. buddies that this was solely their problem? What should we do?
